Santo Domingo Pueblo clay angel ornament uniquely handmade by Native American artist Angel Bailon. Each one is hand made and hand painted so is one of a kind. As such, yours will vary slightly from the ones shown.
Angel and Ralph Bailon
Angel Bailon was born at Santo Domingo Pueblo (now Kewa), 25 miles south of Santa Fe to Edna Marie and Luciano Coriz. Angel is of Kewa, Jemez and Laguna descent, and shows at the Santo Domingo Arts and Crafts Show at Kewa Pueblo. Angel learned the skill of pottery making from her mother when she was a young teen.
After marrying Ralph Bailon, they became a team with Angel constructing their angels, ornaments, and spectacular nativities and Ralph painting them in the traditional Kewa geometric designs. Now, they are a family affair with their son joining in.
The Bailon’s collectable pieces are all entirely handmade and are authentic Native American crafts.
