Saint Clare of Assisi Jewelry and Collectables
Saint Clare (1194-1253) was beautiful and rich Italian maid who had a number of suitors. On the night of Palm Sunday in 2012, Clare left her palace home, wearing her finest clothes, and met Saint Francis of Assisi. There she cut her hair and traded her rich clothes for the robe and veil of religious life. St. Clare lived in a home next to San Damiano (restored by St Francis) and founded the order now called Poor Clares. She ran the order as Abbess and strictly adhered to Franciscan rules of poverty and prayer.
