St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) was from a wealthy family and became a Franciscan Priest for Christ. He is also known as the Evangelical Doctor. He was a gifted speaker, and when his remains were uncovered the whole body was decomposed apart from the tongue. Saint Anthony of Padua is attributed for his love for and devotion to the sick and poor, his skillful knowledge of scripture, and his influential preaching. After his death, Anthony become one of the most quickly canonized saints. The Torment of Saint Anthony by Michelangelo famously depicts the saint of lost items and people being attacked by demons which he is able to fend off.
