
St. Adrian of Nicomedia
Adrian was once a prison guard under Emperor Maximian, where he witnessed the imprisonment of Christians but admired their resolve. Inspired, he and his wife Natalia converted to Christianity, and in turn, became imprisoned himself. He was tortured severely until he was finally executed in front of Natalia, who was able to recover one of his severed hands as her only keepsake of her now dead husband.
