Miraculous Blessed Mother Jewelry and Collectables

The Miraculous Medal represents a vision of the Virgin Mary by St. Catherine Labouré in 1830. The Virgin was reported to have given Catherine visions and directed the girl to have medallions made incorporating all of the components stating that people who wear them "will receive great graces". Two years after her visions, the Catholic church approved the medals and started distributing them in 1832.

The Medal shows Mary standing on a globe with rays of light emanating from her hands. The rays that reach the earth represent graces asked for and received while rays that do not reach the globe represent graces not asked for. Around the margin of the image, Catherine was instructed to put the words "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee" (these words helped lead to the idea of the Immaculate Conception". On the reverse side of the medal is a large letter M with a cross, twelve stars, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
